The RIC-155L supports standard Ethernet over NG-SDH/SONET GFP (generic framing procedure) protocol. This allows service providers and network operators TO optimize bandwidth utilization by mapping packet payload into the SDH/SONET transmission units with fixed, low overhead.
Featuring two Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet user ports, the RIC-155L maps Ethernet frames into four priority queues based on VLAN priority (802.1p) marking, to enable differentiation between various user applications. It supports VLAN stacking (Q-in-Q), as well as Strict Priority queuing.
The RIC-155L can be monitored, configured and tested using the following ports and applications:
-
Local management via an ASCII terminal (RS-232)
-
Out-of-band via the local Ethernet management port
-
Remote inband management via the network ports using a dedicated management VLAN
-
Remote configuration and monitoring accessible via RADview-EMS, RAD’s element management system
