Off-Shore Oil & Gas Platforms

Your needs

Deliver cost-effective voice and data services over satellite to remote or off-shore oil and gas platforms.

Our Solution

RAD’s Vmux voice trunking gateways reduce costs and increase capacity when extending voice services over constrained satellite links, cutting communications expenses for oil and gas exploration and drilling operations.

The gateways reduce the cost of extending communication services to offshore drilling platforms, including transmission of analog telephony, data and Ethernet via IP satellite uplinks.

The Vmux voice trunking gateways support 16:1 voice compression, significantly reducing the amount of bandwidth consumed on expensive satellite or microwave links. They are also transparent to all PBX services and features. By minimizing the effects of latency and echo inherent in satellite circuits, the Vmux products maintain toll quality voice. Vmux devices support a variety of analog and digital voice ports along with 10/100BaseT, serial or E1/T1 network links for direct connection to any satellite terminal.

For a complete cost- effective voice and data solution, oil and gas companies can deploy the Vmux together with the Megaplex-2100 multiservice access multiplexer for transmission of high/low-speed data, including SCADA, AMR, teleprotection, 2-way radio, and E & M voice.

Benefits

  • Significant bandwidth reduction (up to 16:1) translates to significant cost savings
  • Transparent to all telephony features; Operates with all types of VSATs
  • Compact, scalable and simple to deploy
