  • Remote call centers

Typical Applications

  • Interconnecting distributed MD110 system across IP or TDM network.

Ericsson’s MD110 convergence communication system is one of the most popular PBXs in the enterprise market, mainly thanks to its unique distributed architecture. This architecture allows the PBX capabilities to be distributed between enterprise sites, while abiding to central configuration guidelines.

The MD110’s remote shelves, also known as LIMs (Line interface modules), are inter-connected via the central GS (group-switch) unit. The GS is responsible not only for this connection, but also for distributing software and configuration to the LIMs, and for performing backup operations. Obviously, these connections require expensive E1/T1 leased lines, or expensive wireless links.

RAD’s Vmux voice trunking gateways, using advanced voice compression methods, significantly reduce the number of leased lines, or the amount of bandwidth required between enterprise sites. The Vmux voice trunking gateways also enable interconnection over existing IP networks that were originally intended for data only.

Ericsson has certified the Vmux-110 voice trunking gateway and Vmux-2100 voice trunking gateways, after conducting intensive inter-operability tests, including various types of multi-site environments. These tests concluded that the Vmux gateways provided toll quality voice, with minimal bandwidth requirements, without affecting any of Ericsson's proprietary data transfer protocols used for signaling, backup and file transfer.
