AMSTERDAM, October 14, 2011 – RAD Data Communications has won the award for Best Mobile Backhaul Product at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress here, with its ETX-205A Carrier Ethernet demarcation device.
The award was presented by IIR Telecoms & Technology, organizer of the event, and the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), and was determined by a panel of judges from leading industry analyst firms Informa, Infonetics, Current Analysis, Ovum and IDC.
A member of RAD’s EtherAccess portfolio, RAD’s ETX-205A is an advanced Carrier Ethernet demarcation device designed for mobile backhaul and business and wholesale service applications. For mobile backhaul, it combines a cell-site gateway or a small hub device with Ethernet demarcation functionalities. Placed at cellular tower and controller sites, it helps backhaul and transport providers, as well as fixed-mobile carriers, guarantee differentiated service levels for 3G, HSPA and LTE mobile operators.
The ETX-205A provides distributed intelligence with powerful, multi-class of service traffic management capabilities. These include multi-criteria classification, scheduling, shaping, policing, and queue management. The multi-functional unit incorporates a wide range of robust timing and synchronization capabilities to ensure highly accurate traffic delivery.
By combining multiple functionalities in a single device, the ETX-205A lowers equipment costs and simplifies network and service deployments. Its synchronization feature set, for example, eliminates the need for costly external devices, and its sophisticated toolset for remote SLA management enables and streamlines remote monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
On the services side, the ETX-205A delivers SLA-based services to customers over native Ethernet access. It transports up to 1 Gbps of user throughput, with the highest levels of performance and reliability.
“It is an honor to win this award, and the fact that the ETX-205A was chosen by IIR, MEF and five independent industry analysts makes the recognition even more significant,” said Amir Karo, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for RAD Data Communications.
Karo added, “The mobile backhaul space is where carriers and service providers will focus in these next few years, in order to assure the performance of 4G and LTE services and applications. The ETX-205A enables them to guarantee that performance cost-effectively, which no doubt impressed the team of judges for the Best Mobile Backhaul Product award.”
