RAD Adds 10 GbE NTU with Intelligent Demarcation and Aggregation Capabilities to its Carrier Ethernet Access Portfolio
Addresses Performance Needs of Business Ethernet and Wholesale Services that Require High Capacity Access Pipes
RAD Data Communications has once again expanded its Ethernet access portfolio by launching a 10 GbE Network Termination Unit (NTU) that combines intelligent demarcation and aggregation capabilities to deliver SLA-based Carrier Ethernet services for enterprise and carrier-to-carrier applications.
“The ETX-220A answers a real need for high capacity access combined with service management and SLA assurance,” explains Eyal Aloni, ETX Portfolio Manager at RAD Data Communications. “As a demarcation solution it can be used for managed service handoff at an enterprise headquarters handling a large volume of traffic, at carrier hotels or between provider networks,” he continues. “The same device can also be used as an aggregation solution at the concentration point, where a single unit can support numerous services and concurrent OAM sessions.”
Conforming to emerging Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) CE 2.0 specifications, the ETX-220A NTU is optimized for bandwidth intensive Ethernet access services, with a system throughput of up to 40 Gbps. The carrier-grade ETX-220A is equipped with sophisticated traffic management and supports extensive hardware-based tools for managing the service life cycle seamlessly, even across third-party networks. Built to transport multi-priority traffic while ensuring latency, jitter and packet delivery performance on a per-flow basis, the ETX-220A guarantees the highest possible service availability along with end-to-end performance management across packet backhaul, as required by providers of premium communications services, such as for business applications.
Part of RAD’s Carrier Ethernet Access Ecosystem
“The ETX-220A is an important element in RAD’s complete Carrier Ethernet ecosystem, and is fully interoperable with the ETX-5300A Ethernet service aggregation platform, the ETX-205A Carrier Ethernet mobile demarcation device and the ETX-203AX and ETX-203AM Carrier Ethernet demarcation devices,” notes Aloni. “RAD has the knowledge, experience and the support capabilities to assist enterprises, operators and service providers in building out their Ethernet access networks while lowering TCO.”
