RAD to Introduce Combo LTE Aggregator/1588 Grandmaster at LTE World Summit
Part of LTE Backhaul Ecosystem along with Mobile Demarcation Devices and 10 GbE NTU
Barcelona, Spain, May 15, 2012 – RAD Data Communications will be presenting the company’s ecosystem for LTE backhaul at the LTE World Summit, to be held May 22-24 in Barcelona. The lineup includes the award-winning ETX-205A mobile demarcation device, the recently released ETX-5300A Ethernet service aggregation platform and the newly unveiled ETX-220A 10 GbE NTU.
RAD’s mobile backhaul devices are being deployed by Tier 1 operators worldwide to provide LTE’s high-speed services in urban areas as well as for broadband coverage in under-served rural communities.
Industry’s First Such Platform in a Single Device
“RAD’s LTE backhaul solutions are tailored to the needs of wholesale transport providers and mobile operators requiring both demarcation and aggregation with end-to-end assured service delivery from the eNodeB across the backhaul network,” says Ronen Guri, the company’s Director of Mobile Backhaul and Wholesale Solutions. “LTE backhaul also requires highly accurate clock distribution and reliable service handoff,” he continues. “RAD is introducing the industry’s first platform that combines all those capabilities in a single device, thereby cutting the number of network elements – and the associated costs – required to ensure dependable service delivery,” he notes. “RAD’s backhaul ecosystem supports LTE’s stringent requirements for low latency, multiple CoS with sophisticated traffic management capabilities for improved QoS and trademarked SyncToP timing synchronization options, including Synchronous Ethernet and embedded 1588 grandmaster, transparent and boundary clock functionality.”
“New Product Innovation Impacting the Mobile Backhaul Space”
“We have often seen RAD among the first out of the gate with new product innovation impacting the mobile backhaul space and the ETX-5300A positions them in that role again,” said Patrick Donegan, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading. “The support of a 1588v2 Grandmaster function is particularly interesting, injecting a welcome dose of competition into that market segment.”
