Mahwah, New Jersey, April 5, 2011 -- RAD Data Communications announced today that its full line of Carrier Ethernet, Mobile Backhaul, and Multiservice Access solutions will be available to NECA members for the implementation of broadband and Ethernet applications. NECA companies and their affiliates can get better pricing and support through the program when using RAD Data Communications products in applications such as wireless backhaul, Smart Grid, and Carrier Ethernet.
“RAD Data Communications provides equipment and support which will help our members serve the growing Ethernet market for small business and wireless backhaul,” said Sal Talluto, NECA’s Director of Network Technologies and Services Planning.
RAD’s product portfolio encompasses extensive support for legacy services combined with ongoing leadership in defining and producing the standards and capabilities of next generation networks and services such as Carrier Ethernet and Smart Grid applications. While some of RAD’s solutions are pure plays in legacy or next-gen environments, many of the solutions bridge the gap between legacy and next-gen.
For example, pseudowire – a RAD innovation – enables operators to transport legacy TDM circuits over next-gen IP/Ethernet networks. Many mobile operators have seized on pseudowire technology as a cost-effective means for backhauling cellular traffic from their towers. Similarly, many organizations and providers use RAD’s Ethernet bridging technology to extend Ethernet services where only TDM/SONET infrastructure exists. RAD’s evolutionary approach greatly alleviates the CapEx and OpEx pains associated with a forklift upgrade to an all-IP/Ethernet network.
These evolutionary technologies complement RAD’s commitment to be at the forefront of Carrier Ethernet and Smart Grid applications. NECA and RAD are both members of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).
