RAD to Highlight Its Cost-Reduction Solutions for Profitable Carrier Ethernet Service Delivery at Ethernet Expo

Carrier Ethernet NID Portfolio Enables Operators to Focus on Service Delivery While Keeping Tight Lid on Operating Expenses and Lowering Equipment and Training Costs

RAD Data Communications will exhibit its portfolio of MEF-certified Carrier Ethernet NIDs at Ethernet Expo here November 2-3. This suite of richly featured, cost-optimized demarcation solutions offers powerful traffic management, service assurance monitoring and reporting, and flexible access options, addressing the service provider’s most painful challenge: maintaining service profitability in the face of price pressure and avoiding service commoditization.

“When choosing a Network Interface Device (NID) to enable the delivery of profitable new services, the critical consideration is how the device will reduce expenses, yet provide a competitive edge by enabling meaningful service differentiation,” explains Uri Zilberman, President of RAD Data Communications. RAD’s Carrier Ethernet NID portfolio is designed to reduce expenses and provide for profitable service differentiation in the following ways:

1) Provides a single-box solution for service delivery, testing, and access over any network infrastructure, significantly reducing inventory, stocking costs, OSS development expenses, and training requirements

2) The feature rich, ASIC-based NID reduces CapEx by cutting traditional demarcation equipment costs in half

3) Powerful traffic management capabilities open up a broad range of service possibilities while better managing network resources

4) Hardware-powered performance monitoring and Ethernet OAM can quickly preempt multi-site service issues, rapidly pinpoint and isolate faults, avoid unnecessary or frequent truck rolls, and maintain service availability

5) Timing interworking capabilities extend the service providers’ offering to mobile backhaul segments and reduce the need for additional third party equipment

At Ethernet Expo, RAD will highlight its latest EtherAccess solution, the ETX-203A Carrier Ethernet network termination unit (NTU). Designed for SLA-enabled EPL/EVPL Ethernet services, the ETX-203A is the perfect alternative to best-effort media converters. This feature-rich, intelligent demarcation device incorporates RAD’s newly developed Carrier Ethernet ASIC to deliver all the best benefits for as low as $400 per unit.

In addition to the ETX-203A, RAD will also feature its ETX-204A Carrier Ethernet NID, along with its complete line of access solutions for transporting Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet over native Ethernet, SONET, bonded PDH, DSL, T1, STM-1, and wireless links.

Also at Ethernet Expo, Motty Anavi, RAD’s Vice President of Business Development, will take part in a panel discussion entitled Carrier Ethernet Network Solutions: Tools & Techniques for Ethernet Service Differentiation, on Wednesday, November 3, at 10:45 am.

RAD will be exhibiting in Booth 116.
