Australian Converged Network Operator Increases Bandwidth and Reduces Costs with RAD and NSC

TPG/Soul, which owns and operates one of Australia’s largest converged telecommunications networks, has introduced a new broadband Ethernet service called EFM (Ethernet over First Mile) enabled by RAD Data Communications technology supplied by NSC Network Solutions, a member of the one of the country’s leading converged communications integrators, NSC Group.

According to Wayne Springer from TPG/Soul, EFM is a cost-effective symmetrical and uncontended service capable of delivering connectivity speeds of up to 10 Mbps.

“The new network, which is backed up by a national MPLS backbone, enables businesses to reduce network connectivity costs by up to 70 percent while boosting application performance,” Springer said. “Many businesses will be able to move from an existing 2 Mbps service to a 10 Mbps service and still achieve a reduced cost of network,” he continued. “This is extremely attractive under the current economic conditions.”

The EFM service makes IP data, voice, video, and Internet applications a reality for organizations that previously ruled them out due to high bandwidth demands and even higher bandwidth costs.

“The RAD solution delivered by NSC has enabled the Soul EFM service to be purpose-built to carry voice, data, video and a variety of mission-critical applications across an organization’s WAN,” added Matt Sully, Manager, NSC Network Solutions.
