RAD Identified as a Leader in Driving Ethernet Backhaul to Resolve Mobile Broadband Bottleneck

December 17, 2007: RAD Data Communications, a leading provider of broadband technologies for fixed and mobile operators, has been named one of five solutions providers driving the early adoption of Ethernet backhaul in mobile networks in the first edition of Heavy Reading's new "Ethernet Backhaul Tracker."
Because existing backhaul networks cannot cost-effectively handle the surge in bandwidth required by new 3G HSPA services, cellular operators around the world are beginning to migrate their backhaul traffic to cost-effective Ethernet networks.
"As mobile operators transform from providers of voice services to providers of mobile broadband, their backhaul networks will also need to undergo a major transformation," explains Gabriel (Gaby) Junowicz, Director of Business Development at RAD Data Communications. "Ethernet is the lynchpin of that transformation. RAD is proud to receive this recognition of our position as one of the prime movers in this market. RAD is developing technically superior backhaul solutions that meet the most critical challenge faced by the cellular market."
"RAD is one of five vendors highlighted for the level of engagement it has with carriers that want to be at the very leading edge in making this transition," said Patrick Donegan, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading, and author of the new quarterly tracker service.

RAD's Ethernet backhaul solutions have already been selected for deployment by T-Mobile International and Japan’s eMobile in order to provide the additional capacity required for their HSPA networks.
